New core system successfully procured

A review of the current project highlighted that the required business benefits would not be achieved. The project was cancelled and a new system procured instead.

The following activities were undertaken:

  • A complete review of the current project from a business perspective in order to provide an independent view of the projects status, it’s likelihood of success, and whether it would deliver the expected benefits.
  • A recommendation that the project be cancelled and an improved solution be procured from outside the organisation.
  • Re-definition of the business requirements and project dependencies.
  • Definition of the Request for Proposal document, and the issuing of this to a number of suitable organisations.
  • Management of the procurement exercise including supplier evaluation and selection.
  • Project management of the project from the clients perspective, ensuring the interface between the client and the IT services provider was properly managed.
  • Regular independent audits of the chosen supplier to ensure that the new project was being managed using recognised processes, would meet the clients needs, and would be delivered on time and to budget.
  • Management of the acceptance testing activities, ensuring that the delivered system performed to the clients needs and was accepted.
