A project was initiated to select a supplier and then manage the ongoing relationship to ensure project success. Combined, the projects were worth £7 million.
The project involved:
- Identifying and documenting the clients requirements
- Assisting with the supplier selection process
- Taking responsibility for developing and managing the ongoing relationship between the client and the offshore IT company.
- Managing the project’s start-up, ensuring roles and responsibilities were fully defined and the project was up and running in an accelerated timeframe.
- Developing, implementing, and operating procedures to manage the relationship effectively
- Undertaking regular reviews of the offshore IT development company, ensuring that the project was on target and being run to recognised standards. Shortfalls and issues were identified and addressed, thereby reducing the risk of failure.
- Guiding the client through the pitfalls of working with an offshore company where distance and cultural issues need to be managed.
- Managing the UK based team to ensure interdependencies were fully managed and the project was not impacted by any internal client issues
- Developing skills in clients own staff through mentoring and support
