Bridging the IT/business gap

A review of the IT strategy was undertaken and corrective actions implemented. This included:

  • A review of the current hardware and software environments, along with the strategic options for supporting the newly defined business strategy.
  • Working with the operational departmental teams and suppliers to understand the current problems and identify solutions
  • Presenting the findings to the board, including a recommendation to terminate an existing system supplier in order to correct a problematic project- this was running one year late, had only delivered partial functionality, suffered from performance problems, and was impacting the profitability of the business.
  • Establishing support from the board to implement the strategy, including the recommendation regarding the current system supplier.
  • Terminating the current system supplier and managed the contractual implications of this.
  • Sourcing a new supplier who would be capable of correcting the system and delivering to the business requirements in a timely manner.
  • Project management of the new supplier, ensuring delivery of a new system that met business requirements.
