A review of the IT strategy was undertaken and corrective actions implemented. This included:
- A review of the current hardware and software environments, along with the strategic options for supporting the newly defined business strategy.
- Working with the operational departmental teams and suppliers to understand the current problems and identify solutions
- Presenting the findings to the board, including a recommendation to terminate an existing system supplier in order to correct a problematic project- this was running one year late, had only delivered partial functionality, suffered from performance problems, and was impacting the profitability of the business.
- Establishing support from the board to implement the strategy, including the recommendation regarding the current system supplier.
- Terminating the current system supplier and managed the contractual implications of this.
- Sourcing a new supplier who would be capable of correcting the system and delivering to the business requirements in a timely manner.
- Project management of the new supplier, ensuring delivery of a new system that met business requirements.
